Eric Lumsden, along with Andrew Hammond and Gaye McMath, were selected as Commissioners by the Minister for Local Government David Templeman, upon the suspension of the City of Perth Council earlier this month.
Chair of Commissioners Mr Lumsden said as part of taking on the role of Council, the Commissioners will be looking for efficiencies to streamline Administration processes.
“We have been tasked with making tough decisions in the best interests of the City, its ratepayers, business, the community and staff,” Mr Lumsden said.
“Last night Commissioners approved a reduction in the number of Committees, revised the frequency of Council meetings and introduced Agenda Briefing Sessions.
“Transparency is key to the Commissioners and the new Agenda Briefing Sessions will ultimately lead to greater discussion in an open public forum at Council meetings.”
Commissioners also last night exercised their responsibility in approving the City’s mid-year budget review and appointed representatives to a range of Regional Local Governments, City Convened Working Groups, External Organisations and Statutory Bodies.
“Speaking on behalf of my fellow Commissioners, we are committed to improving the City of Perth, and along with the Administration and staff, will continue to deliver great services to the ratepayers, business and the wider community,” Mr Lumsden said.
