Activities on footpaths, roads or in the malls

Individuals, organisations and community groups are able to apply for a permit to hold an event or activity in the city. The City of Perth issue different types of permits depending on the activity type:

Holding a one-off public event, public display, fundraising stall, community parade or fun run.

Handing out pamphlets, without infrastructure e.g. tables, shade structures.

Displaying business products in front of your shop front, placement of crowd control barriers, religious promotion.

Registered café and bars to operate on the footpath in front of their business.

Street performing.

Protests, marches and rallies

Hold a public meeting and/or procession such as a protest, demonstration rally or march in the public realm managed by the City of Perth.

To hold an event in one of the City’s Parks and Reserves please refer to Parks, gardens and reserves hire.

If your activity doesn’t fit into one of the above, or you are unsure of the required permit application, please submit an Activity Enquiry Form supplying details of your proposed activity. One of our Activity Approval team members will then contact you to assist.

There are dedicated events sites for hire in the malls:

  • Forrest Place
  • Murray Street Mall:
    • West End site
    • Comm Bank site
    • Info Kiosk site
    • Myer Event site.
  • Hay Street Mall:
    • Plaza Arcade site
    • Other sites are available on an ad-hoc basis.
