Council of Capital City Lord Mayors

The Capital Cities Exchange Bureau was established in 1957, by the Lord Mayors, during a meeting at the Melbourne Town Hall.

The City of Perth is represented by the Lord Mayor at the Council of Capital City Lord Mayors (CCCLM), a national corporate entity for the effective coordination and representation of the special interests of the capital cities of the Australian states and territories in their relations with other spheres of government.*

CCCLM mission

To provide national leadership for the effective coordination and representation of the special interests of the capital cities.

The CCCLM’s key purpose is to represent the collective views of the capital cities to Federal Government decision makers, and to lobby for and maintain Federal Government interest in cities.

CCCLM objectives

1. To achieve comprehensive and formal recognition, including a compact, of the roles and status of capital cities as integral and vital parts of the Australian system of government.
2. To develop effective advocacy and leadership to influence policy on issues affecting capital cities and their wider metropolitan regions.
3. To establish direct relationships and partners at all levels of Australian government to effectively implement programs.
4. To achieve tangible acknowledgment from both Australian and State Governments of the challenges faced and contribution made by the capital cities.
