The City of Perth is lucky to welcome hundreds of new citizens each year. This page features some of our newest Australian citizens and their stories.
Meet Aparna
Originally from India, Aparna moved to Australia in 2018 at just 19 years old. Now, she’s proudly taken the next step in her journey, becoming an Australian citizen at the City of Perth’s latest citizenship ceremony at Council House. After completing her studies at Murdoch University, Aparna is now a medical scientist and looks forward to continuing to give back to the community through her work caring for patients.
Meet Szalina
Originally from Germany, Szalina completed her studies in environmental science here in Perth. She loved studying at a campus surrounded by nature alongside like-minded people. Now, she’s looking forward to building a career focused on the conservation and protection of wildlife and the environment. Drawn to Australia’s natural environment, cultural offerings and welcoming community, Szalina has embraced life in her new home. Hear Szalina share her journey of settling into Australian life.

Originally from Sri Lanka, Chavindhya and Sandun made the move to Australia in 2019. Having fallen in love with Perth’s natural beauty and vibrant multicultural community, Chavindhya and Sandun are proud to call the City of Perth home.
