City of Perth provides a number of options for the payment of rates.

If you would like to make payment now, you can use the online payment method. Mastercard, Visa and Amex cards are accepted.

Please note that payment by credit card is limited to a maximum of $10,000 per assessment per year.

    How to update your postal address

    Please update your postal address by using our online form.

    Alternatively, you can update your address by phoning the Rates Department on (08) 9461 3296 if you are able to quote your assessment number.

    How to update your email or phone contact details

    If your email or phone contact  (not postal address) has changed, please update your details using our online form.

  • What concessions, rebates and exemptions am I eligible for?

    Pensioners and seniors

    Eligible pensioners or seniors may qualify for a concession from Council rates and the Emergency Services Levy and in some circumstances, to rubbish service charges. For the 2024/25 financial year, the pensioner rates capped amount is remaining at $750. Seniors will have their rebates capped at a maximum amount of $100.

    To register for a concession, please visit the Water Corporation’s rates concession page. This application will register you with the Water Corporation and the City of Perth via the one form. Once it is approved by the Water Corporation it will be forwarded to the City of Perth to process on the rates account.  

    The City does not administer the laws in regards to pensioner concessions. If you wish to lodge a complaint regarding the capping amounts for concessions, please contact your local MP.

  • What are my rate payment options?

    Option 1: One payment

    Upfront payment of the total amount - there are no additional costs for this option. Full payment 35 days after the date of issue.

    Option 2: Two instalments

    This option incurs a $35 administration fee and a 5.5% per annum instalment interest charge.

    All arrears, half the rates, waste management charge, ESL, administration fee and instalment interest are payable within 35 days of the rate notice being issued. The balance will be payable approximately two months later, as indicated on the notice. 

    Option 3: Four instalments

    The City also offers a four instalment plan. This option incurs a $35 administration fee and a 5.5% per annum instalment interest charge).

    All arrears, one quarter of the rates, waste management charges, ESL, administration fee and instalment interest charge is payable within 35 days of the rate notice being issued. The balance will be payable in three equal instalments approximately two months apart, as indicated on the notice.

    Late payment interest of 7% per annum is charged on all Rates and Service charges and 11% per annum on the Emergency Service Levy, on all payments outstanding after their due date. This includes instalment payments that become overdue after each due date.

    • Over the phone with credit card * by calling 1300 366 563.

    • Online by credit card.

    • Bpay via internet or phone banking.

    • In person at any Australia Post office. Payment is limited to a maximum of $10,000.

    • In person at Council House, Ground Floor, 27 St Georges Terrace, Perth.
      Payments can be made by cash, cheque, EFTPOS or by credit card. *
      Cashier hours — Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm (Excluding public holidays)

    • Cheque or money order payments are to be made payable to City of Perth and crossed 'Not Negotiable'.

    • By direct debit from your financial institution.
      (Please read the Direct Debit Request Service Agreement).
      An initial set up fee of $35 applies for the direct debit option. Late payment interest of 7% per annum is charged on all Rates and Service charges and 11% per annum on the Emergency Service Levy, on all payments outstanding after their due date. This includes instalment payments that become overdue after each due date.

    • Ratepayers experiencing difficulties in paying their rates accounts by the due date should contact the Rates Department on (08) 9461 3296 as soon as possible to discuss alternative payment arrangements. There is an administration fee of $45 to be placed onto this type of arrangement. Late payment interest of 7% per annum is charged on all Rates and Service charges and 11% per annum on the Emergency Service Levy, on all payments outstanding after their due date, regardless of any arrangements entered into. Please note, all payment arrangement requests must be in writing and can be emailed to rates@cityofperth.wa.gov.au
