The proposed development, located at the current site of the Perth Bowling & Recreation Club will integrate a mix of residential, commercial and community uses.

The new development will capitalise on its proximity to the new Boorloo Bridge (Causeway Pedestrian & Cyclist Bridge), and provide a place for residents and visitors alike to enjoy, while also enhancing the eastern gateway of the City, creating a vibrant new destination.

Due to the site’s prominent location at the eastern entry of the CBD, the masterplan considers building heights in line with surrounding developments and planning regulations, allowing for of high-rise residential developments above 16 storeys.

Deputy Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds said the existing Perth Bowling and Recreation Club was approaching the end of building life, making this an ideal opportunity for renewal.

“This is an opportune time to plan and deliver a modern, well-designed facility that not only meets the needs of the community but also enhances the appeal of living in and enjoying the City,” he said.

“Now we want to hear from the wider community as understanding the aspirations of residents, stakeholders, and the growing population will help shape a precinct that is both functional and future-focused.

“We are excited about the developments already occurring in the East Perth area and see this as another opportunity to add to the vibrancy and make East Perth a great inner-city liveable community.”

The draft Masterplan has been developed following extensive community consultation in 2024, a detailed site analysis, and a Sports and Recreation Needs Analysis and Market and Economic Assessment.

The plan anticipates the site will be used for a mix of uses in the future and encompasses sport, recreation and community uses, as well as residential and commercial uses.

The community is invited to share their feedback on the ideas and concepts proposed by completing the survey here before 12 March.
