The annual awards celebrate the volunteers, community leaders and local groups whose dedication, generosity and service help create a stronger, more connected community.

Whether it's someone who gives their time to support others, champions an important cause or leads initiatives that bring people together, now is the opportunity to recognise those making a lasting difference.

The 2026 Youth Citizen of the Year, Zac Cawdron, was recognised for his significant contributions to the Youth At Risk Network (YARN), where he has volunteered since 2020, as well as his ongoing work with Perth Inner City Youth Service.

Mr Cawdron said receiving the award was meaningful recognition of his personal journey and the importance of supporting young people and strengthening communities.

“There are so many volunteers and community leaders doing extraordinary work every day, often without recognition. Awards like this help shine a light on their contributions and encourage others to get involved,” he said. 

“I am grateful to the City of Perth and Auspire for recognising the people who dedicate themselves to building stronger, more inclusive communities. It’s a reminder that every act of service, no matter how big or small, can have a lasting impact.”

Alongside the Auspire Awards, the City of Perth is proud to once again present the City of Light Champion Award. This award provides the City's Elected Members with the opportunity to recognise both individuals and community groups who have made an exceptional contribution to the City of Perth over the past year.

The City of Light Champion Award, recognising both an individual and a community group, will be presented following the Auspire Community Citizen of the Year Award presentations on Australia Day 2027, celebrating even more of the remarkable people whose commitment helps make Perth an exceptional place to live, work and visit.

City of Perth Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds said he was pleased to see the City of Light Champion Award return for its second year, providing another opportunity for the City to recognise those making an outstanding contribution to Perth.

“It’s fantastic to see the City of Light Champion Award return for a second year, following the inaugural award presented to the City of Perth Western Residents last year.

“The award gives us an opportunity to recognise the individuals and community groups who go above and beyond to make a positive difference to our city.

“I look forward to seeing the nominations and celebrating this year’s City of Light Champion Award winners on Australia Day 2027.”
