More than 160 volunteers generously donate their time across key City programs, including those run by the iCity Visitor Service, Citiplace Community Centre, and the Perth Town Hall.
Deputy Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds said the week was a chance to celebrate the unsung heroes who help to showcase the best of our City and keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.
“Our volunteers are at the heart of what makes the City of Perth such a special place,” Cr Reynolds said.
“Collectively, they contribute almost 30,000 hours of service each year – welcoming visitors, supporting the community, and enriching City life in countless ways. We’re incredibly proud and grateful for their ongoing dedication.”
To mark the occasion, the City will host a special afternoon tea on Friday 23 May at Council House to thank and celebrate its volunteers.
This year’s National Volunteer Week theme by
Volunteering WA is ‘Connecting Communities’, which highlights the vital role volunteers play in strengthening social bonds and creating vibrant, inclusive cities.
“Whether they’re sharing local knowledge with tourists, leading guided walking tours, or preparing meals for those in need, our volunteers truly do it all,” Cr Reynolds said.
“They come from all walks of life but are united by their passion for our City and their willingness to lend a helping hand. They fill us with pride, and we’re thrilled to celebrate them this week.”
