With thousands of people expected to visit the city each day for work, shopping, dining and the extensive program of events, festivals and cultural celebrations, this seasonal program aims to enhance safety and build community cohesion.

Across summer, residents, workers and visitors will see:

  • SafeCity Night Patrols operating throughout the City and parks
  • Additional mobile CCTV towers
  • More activations in City parks, including community events and coffee catch-ups with our City Services, supported by WA Police
  • A trial of real-time decibel monitoring in Wellington Square.

City of Perth Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds said the initiative was about fostering a safe and connected city during the busiest time of year.

“Summer is when our city comes alive with warm days, long evenings and time spent with family and friends. Our parks and public spaces are even more popular as the community comes together to enjoy Perth’s outdoor lifestyle,” Cr Reynolds said.

“Our parks are shared by people using them in many ways such as for sport, family gatherings, exercise and cultural celebrations. With so many different activities happening side-by-side, social understanding and respect for one another are essential.

“Behind the scenes, the City of Perth team and our partners are working around the clock to help everyone feel safe and welcome.

“In a city that looks out for each other, safety and vibrancy go hand in hand. That’s why, during the first week of summer, we’re launching OneCity Together for Summer, our coordinated summer safety program supporting a 24/7 city.

“This summer, we’re working as one community to create a city that’s safe, welcoming and full of life,” he said.

The OneCity Together for Summer initiative builds on the City’s ongoing investment in community safety, including an extensive CCTV network, Ranger presence, lighting upgrades and activation of public spaces.
