Boorloo (Perth) is proud to be the 2025 NAIDOC Week focus city, with this year marking a significant milestone: 50 years of NAIDOC Week honouring and elevating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices, culture and resilience.
From 6 to 13 July, we come together to celebrate NAIDOC Week – recognising the rich history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The 2025 theme, The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy, celebrates not only the achievements of the past but the bright future ahead, empowered by the strength of young leaders, the vision of communities, and the legacy of ancestors.
In celebration of this powerful theme, the City of Perth is proud to present the 2025 NAIDOC Week Exhibition in the Council House Foyer, running from 7 July to 15 August 2025. Featuring works from emerging alongside established artists, the exhibition includes works from the City of Perth Cultural Collections and has been made possible with the generous support of Mossenson Galleries and Janet Holmes à Court Collection.
Residents and visitors of the City are invited to join us for a free Artist in Conversation event at the City of Perth Library on 9 July with Tyrown Waigana, a multidisciplinary artist and graphic designer. Tyrown has cultural ties to the Wandandi Noongar people of south-west Western Australia and the Ait Koedal people of Saibai Island in the Torres Strait. Places are limited – register early to avoid disappointment.
The City of Perth is also proud to host the National NAIDOC Awards Ceremony on Saturday 5 July 2025. These awards honour the remarkable contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals who drive positive change within their communities and across the nation. Finalist details can be found here.
