• Perth Chinese New Year Fair to take place 10 to 11 February throughout Northbridge
  • City of Perth sponsors Chung Wah Association's Perth Chinese New Year Fair
  • Chinese lion dancers, tasty street food, cultural performances and vibrant market stalls will welcome the Year of the Dragon in the City of Perth on 10 and 11 February.

Commencing Saturday 10 February at 11am in Northbridge Piazza, the Chung Wah Association will host a one-of-a-kind Dragon Sculpture unveiling ceremony.
 
Festivities continue on Sunday 11 February with the Perth Chinese New Year Fair from 12 to 9pm. The fair will weave through the streets of Northbridge featuring performances, children’s activities, street food, dragon and lion dances and a multicultural concert.

Two stages at Northbridge Piazza and Yagan Square Amphitheatre will host cultural performances throughout the day. 
 
City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said the City was proud to again be sponsoring the Chung Wah Association Chinese New Year Fair celebrations across the weekend.
 
“We are a long-time partner of the renowned annual cultural event which continues to grow in popularity,” Mr Zempilas said.
 
“Our Chinese community is one of our City's greatest assets and we are immensely proud of the ties we have with China, in particular our special relationships with Sister Cities Nanjing and Chengdu.
 
“Thank you to the Chung Wah Association for hosting this wonderful celebration every year. It is a festival for the whole family to enjoy and a privilege for the wider Perth community to experience the culture, and traditions that the Lunar New Year brings. 
 
“On behalf of the City of Perth, I wish you all a happy and prosperous Year of the Dragon.”
 
Lunar New Year festivities will continue throughout the month thanks to the City of Perth.
 
Chinese Lion Dancers will perform at Murray Street Mall every weekday at midday from 12 to 23 February. Red lanterns will also adorn city malls and the streets of Northbridge throughout the month.
