Located on Murray Street, Pirate Life Perth is the CBD’s largest brewpub, offering a multi-venue precinct with a diverse mix of dining and drinking experiences.

Through revitalising its street presence, Pirate Life Perth has enhanced its connection to the surrounding streetscape with support from the City’s Business Improvement Grant Program. The venue was awarded $20,000 in matched funding, which contributed to the installation of large sliding doors opening onto Murray Street, improved alfresco lighting, and a refreshed exterior wall colour palette.

These upgrades have significantly improved the venue’s street appeal, creating a more open, inviting and pedestrian-friendly environment that encourages people to linger, connect and enjoy.

The Business Improvement Grant Program offers matched funding of between $5,000 and $20,000 to support businesses and property owners in delivering projects that enhance the public realm, create engaging experiences and attract increased visitation.

Pirate Life Perth owner Andy Freeman encourages others to explore the opportunity:

“Just ring the team, they’re there to help.

“They want the money to be dispersed in our community, to help ratepayers take advantage of these great opportunities.”

The 2025/26 Business Improvement Grant Program is open until 27 February 2027, or until the budget is exhausted.
