Live work and invest
Perth is widely recognised as one of the world’s most liveable cities, offering an exceptional quality of life that attracts talent, investors and businesses alike. The city ranks in the top 10% of more than 241 cities in the Mercer Quality of Living Survey (2024) and achieved an equal-best 6th place globally in the Economist Intelligence Unit’s Liveability Index. Residents benefit from the shortest average commute times of any major Australian capital, enjoy 8+ hours of sunshine daily, and have access to over 547 hectares of green space which is around 41% of the city. Continued investment in urban greening, including 7,000+ trees planted in 2024, alongside award-winning projects like Wellington Square (Moort-ak Waadiny), reinforces Perth’s reputation as a healthy, connected and highly liveable city.
Perth is also gaining global recognition as a vibrant cultural and travel destination. Ranked 9th best place to travel in 2023 by Forbes and featured in CNN’s top 23 destinations, the city is a thriving hub for arts and creativity. The Perth Cultural Centre supported by a $55 million investment anchors the state’s cultural scene, while the development of the Perth Film Studios is set to attract major international productions. In 2024–25, the City of Perth hosted 646 events and activations, strengthening its position as WA’s events capital, and the city is home to the largest Fringe festival in the southern hemisphere. With Northbridge ranked among Australia’s coolest neighbourhoods and Perth named the top Airbnb market in 2024, the city continues to grow as a dynamic, globally connected destination.
