The love of trees will be in the air this April as the City of Perth takes part in this year’s annual WA Tree Festival.

The City is hosting a range of events from 6 April to 5 May as part of the state-wide tree celebrations, all dedicated to the wonderful world of trees.

Delve into a City of Perth Library tree-themed story time at Perth City Farm, watch as a tree mural comes to life on Pier Street, hear from the experts in a Stirling Gardens tree walk, indulge in free flicks at the Northbridge Piazza or see a photographic exhibition of the City’s trees in Yagan Square – there’s something every week in the City.

WA Tree Festival highlights the importance of daily connections to nature and how the community can help to protect our State’s tree canopy.

The festival is a precursor to the City’s own month-long celebration of trees in May, known as Tree Month. This is where the community will really be able to get their hands dirty across several activations and community planting days.

Tree Month recognises the importance of community involvement in urban greening and helps contribute to long-term strategic planting goals outlined in the City’s Urban Greening Strategy 2023-2036. The City aims to increase canopy cover in City streets and parklands to 30 per cent by 2050.

As part of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Trees in Cities Challenge, the City of Perth has also pledged to plant 1502 trees between 1 January 2023 and 31 December 2024.
