The countdown is on with Perth’s newest public artwork Boonji Spaceman landing in Perth very soon.
The monumental 7 metre tall sculpture will be revealed in its temporary home in the City of Perth in Stirling Gardens where it will stay for 12 months so locals and visitors to the City can enjoy this impressive piece.
The Spaceman has been gifted to Perth by US artist Brendan Murphy courtesy Gullotti Galleries who saw a link to our City of Light identity - born from astronaut John Glenn’s historic first orbit of Earth in 1962.
Perth will be one of only six cities in the world to have its own Boonji Spaceman. The others can be found in Antigua, London, Oslo, Houston, and Riyadh.
Each Boonji Spaceman sculpture is a one-of-a-kind creation, and the piece Murphy has created for Perth is entirely unique.
