The City of Perth extraordinary election concluded today with Steve Wellard being elected to Council, following Brent Fleeton’s resignation in August.

Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas congratulated Councillor Elect Wellard on his victory.
“I look forward to working with Steve Wellard as part of the City of Perth Council,” he said.
“It was an extremely competitive election campaign and highlighted the number of outstanding members in our community who put themselves forward to represent our ratepayers and become part of our Council team.
“It is an honour and a privilege to serve your community and an exciting time to become a voice for City of Perth ratepayers.”
The Swearing-In Ceremony will take place at 4pm on Monday 21 October. The invite-only ceremony will take place at Council House.
Councillor Elect Wellard's term will expire on 18 October 2025.
