From 27 July to 2 August during Library and Information Week 2026, the annual initiative invites City of Perth Library members to return long-overdue items and donate an essential item in exchange for having overdue fees waived.
The amnesty returns following the success of last year's campaign, which saw numerous long-overdue library items returned to the shelves, 15 library memberships reinstated, and generous donations collected for the Perth Homeless Support Group.
This year's accepted donations include new socks or new, unopened personal care items, such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, soap, body wash or moisturiser.
Whether you've had a library book tucked away on a shelf for months or even years, the City encourages everyone to take advantage of the amnesty and enjoy a fresh start with their library membership.
