Transport plays an important role in shaping the City's character, economy and liveability. It influences how people access jobs, businesses, services and public spaces, and affects the experience of living in, working in and visiting Perth.
City of Perth Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds said the draft strategy is critical to ensure Perth continues to grow and thrive as a capital city.
"Perth is growing, more people are choosing to live, work, study and invest in our city than ever before, and we need a transport network that keeps pace with that growth,” he said.
"Our vision is for a city that is connected, accessible and easy to move around. Whether you're walking, cycling, catching public transport or driving, getting around Perth should be safe, efficient and enjoyable.
"Transport isn't just about moving people. It's about connecting neighbourhoods, supporting local businesses, unlocking investment and creating vibrant places where people want to spend time.
"This strategy is about shaping the future of our capital city, and I encourage everyone to have their say as we plan for the next decade of Perth's growth."
The City's current Transport Strategy was adopted in 2017. Transport trends, travel behaviour and community expectations have changed significantly during that time.
The new Strategy provides an updated framework to guide transport planning, investment and advocacy over the next 10 years. It will help the City balance competing demands on the transport network and support accessibility, economic vitality, sustainability and high-quality public places.
