HoopsFest will bounce into Perth next month and Forrest Place will be the place for fans to gather and celebrate all things basketball.
The four-day sports festival will see the fan zone bursting with activity – from player meet and greets, live music and a 3x3 court hosting a slam dunk exhibition, the special Olympics and so much more.
City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said the Forrest Place Fan Zone would be the heart of the inaugural basketball festival.
“What an honour for Perth to host the nation’s very first HoopsFest – an epic celebration of basketball, with 150 players gathering from all over the Australia and New Zealand.
“The City is thrilled to support the free fan zone giving everyone in Perth the opportunity to get swept up in basketball fever. NBL and WNBL fans will be spoilt for choice with food trucks, entertainment and even the world’s rarest shoes will be on show at Sneakerland,” he said.
NBL Chief Fans, Club and Strategy Officer Anthony Everard said HoopsFest will be the ultimate fan experience and the Fan Zone adds another incredible element to an unforgettable weekend.
“With a wide and diverse range of touchpoints available to fans at HoopsFest, we are certain memories will be made in several ways while engaging with the NBL, WNBL, and everything in between.
“We thank the City of Perth for their co-operation in bringing the fan zone to life, and thank the Western Australian Government for their overarching support for HoopsFest.”
The City of Perth supported the HoopsFest fan zone to the tune of $275,000.
“This is an Australia-first, right here in the City. Don’t miss the chance next month to join the excitement at Forrest Place, grab a bite to eat, and support our own Wild Cats and Perth Lynx!”, Mr Zempilas said.
“Fans heading to the games in the city can take advantage of the free rickshaws running from Forrest Place to RAC Arena as well as our free parking after 6pm at all City of Perth parking bays,”.
HoopsFest will run from 19 – 22 September at RAC arena, HBF Stadium and Bendat Basketball stadium.
