Perth is synonymous with light and after the success of our four previous shows this summer, the final two City of Light shows will reinforce that no city lights up like Perth.
For the last time this summer, drones will light up Elizabeth Quay this weekend in the final instalment of the City of Light Show series, proudly presented by Roy Hill.
City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said 500 drones will take to the sky to wow the people of Perth and close out a spectacular summer of events in the City.
“Perth is synonymous with light and after the success of our four previous shows this summer, the final two City of Light shows will reinforce that no city lights up like Perth,” Mr Zempilas said.
“The City of Light Show series will conclude with two light shows on February 18 and 19 - the perfect way to spend a balmy summer night in the City,” he said.
Families are encouraged to come down to Elizabeth Quay from 5pm to enjoy food trucks and roving entertainment – the kids can enjoy a silent disco, try out the hula-hoop workshop and cool off in the waterpark. Crowds can also purchase a ticket and try their luck at sideshow alley.
“At 6pm on Saturday, crowds will not want to miss the impressive water jetpack demonstrations hovering in and above the Elizabeth Quay water inlet.
“Then from 8pm, 500 drones will light up Elizabeth Quay with scenes from the City and a soundtrack from our radio partner, Mix94.5.
“I am so proud of how we’ve lit up the City this summer with a thriving event calendar, Perth has been buzzing with activity. The grand finale this weekend is the perfect way to wrap up our City of Light series on a high note.”
“But our events season is far from over yet – with Perth Festival in full swing, the final few days of Fringe World and many more to come, there’s plenty for everyone to enjoy,” Mr Zempilas said.
The City of Light Show series is proudly presented by Hancock Prospecting, Roy Hill and Atlas Iron, and major supporter Lotterywest, radio partner Mix94.5 and TV media partner Seven West. Across the summer, the series showcased both drone and firework shows from November to February.
