The City of Perth Council met on Tuesday 30 September. This was the final Ordinary Council Meeting ahead of the City of Perth election on 18 October. The following decisions were made:
Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (PCEC) Precinct Improvement
Council voted to endorse the City of Perth’s submission to the Western Australian Planning Commission on the draft Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (PCEC) Precinct Improvement Scheme No. 1.
The submission highlights the importance of delivering a people-focused redevelopment that better connects the PCEC with the Swan River, Elizabeth Quay, and the wider city, while supporting residential growth, business activity, and a vibrant public realm.
Council also endorsed advocating for the re-establishment of the Capital City Planning Committee to ensure coordinated planning and oversight of major city-shaping projects.
Elected Member Notices of Motion
Council endorsed two Elected Member Motions.
Council endorsed a motion that it does not support the proposed Matilda Bay Ferry Terminal in its current design and requesting further consultation with the State Government before works proceed.
Council also endorsed a separate motion that it does not support the proposed Perth Entertainment & Sporting Precinct at Burswood Park in its current design and has requested further consultation with the State Government and Town of Victoria Park before works progress.
Information about 2025 City of Perth election
The next Local Government election will be held on 18 October 2025.
The election will confirm four Councillor positions with new terms through to 20 October 2029.
The election will also confirm a new Lord Mayor with the term to expire on 16 October 2027.
Voting packages are being distributed by the WA Electoral Commission to those eligible to vote in the election.
Postal votes must be posted by Tuesday 14 October, or you can drop your vote in-person at Council House before the Close of Polls at 6pm on Saturday 18 October.
