The City of Perth Council met on Tuesday 18 November. The following decisions were made:

Expansion of 40km/h speed zone across City neighbourhoods

Council endorsed a moderate expansion of the City’s 40 km/h speed zones to enhance safety across local streets while maintaining existing speed limits on most major roads.

Under the plan, 40 km/h limits will apply to Access Roads and Local Distributor Roads in all City neighbourhoods.

Lower speed environments support a more vibrant city, improving safety for walking and cycling, enhancing outdoor dining, and creating streets where people can spend time.

The project is being delivered in partnership with the Perth Inner City Group (PICG) of Local Governments and Main Roads WA, with a staged rollout through to 2027.

City of Perth Awards $40,000 to Aboriginal Tourism Accelerator

Council has approved $40,000 in Economic Development Sponsorship for Aboriginal Tourism Western Australia Limited, a subsidiary of Western Australian Indigenous Tourism Operators Council (WAITOC), to support the Perth Aboriginal Tourism Accelerator.

The Aboriginal Tourism Accelerator will provide mentoring and business development support to Aboriginal-led tourism operators, helping build a pipeline of new cultural experiences ahead of the planned Aboriginal Cultural Centre in Perth.

Applications for the 2025/26 Economic Development Sponsorship Program remain open.
