In a City-first, the City of Perth and Lotterywest are heralding the coming summer days with a spectacular immersive event that combines storytelling, dance, fireworks and musicians on an incredible floating stage in Elizabeth Quay.
‘The Light Within’ – the first instalment of the City of Light Shows – is a free three-hour spectacular which will wow Perth audiences across two nights on 18 and 19 November.
City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said the unique showcase is a city-first and something you won’t want to miss.
“The Lotterywest City of Light Show will kick the series off on a high. This free spectacular tells a story, titled ‘The Light Within’ through music, dance, animation and special effects – and all on a special floating stage set in the middle of stunning Elizabeth Quay,” he said.
“This will be a weekend to remember, across both nights there’ll be a variety of food, roving entertainment, a magnificent unmissable performance and of course the launch of the iconic Rio Tinto Christmas Light Trail starting at Elizabeth Quay.
“The City of Light is the summer events capital of WA. There’s something for everyone to enjoy, on any budget. Come down, enjoy the shows and make a day or night of it – our streets are where summer memories are made.”
The Light Within, will be the first of two City of Light Show weekends at Elizabeth Quay across the summer which are proudly presented by Lotterywest who are also celebrating 90 years of being part of the Western Australian community.
Lotterywest and Healthway Acting CEO Jeremy Hubble said the support from their $2.5 million grant will span across the entire festive season.
“Lotterywest’s support is about creating special moments for the community to enjoy together, and the City of Lights events and Christmas Lights Trail are a great example of these memorable experiences,” he said.
“The end of the year is a chance for many of us come together and reflect on the year while celebrating the magic of the festive season, which will be made extra special for the families who visit our City to enjoy these iconic light shows.”
The scene is set for summer, with five dazzling shows to enjoy from November onwards:
- Lotterywest City of Light Show, Elizabeth Quay - 18/19 November 2023
- Hancock Prospecting City of Light Show, Langley Park - 26 January 2024
- Lotterywest City of Light Show, Elizabeth Quay – 24/25 February 2023
