The City of Perth will come alive to fireworks tomorrow night and every Saturday night until the end of January.
The Lotterywest Festive Lights shows presented by the City of Perth began with a bang last weekend when more than 14,000 people marked the start of the Christmas season.
The shows which were held at Elizabeth Quay on Saturday and Sunday night attracted huge crowds, despite Sunday night’s rainy weather.
Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said the strong crowds demonstrated that the City was the place to celebrate with family and friends this festive season.
“The Festive Lights shows are just the start of what’s on offer in the City this Christmas,” Mr Zempilas said.
“You can enjoy the Rio Tinto Christmas Lights Trail from now until 1 January plus this week you can catch the family-favourite Alinta Energy Christmas Pageant on Saturday from 7.30pm.
“And starting this Friday you can see Santa Clause at Council House and get a free picture with the big man himself. Christmas truly lives here in the City of Light.
"There will also be fireworks every Saturday at 8.30pm until the end of January, with Government House being the location this weekend, instead of Elizabeth Quay, due to the Alinta Energy Christmas Pageant."
Extended Christmas trading hours also begin this weekend with retailers opening at 8am and trading through to 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
“The experience for many people at suburban shopping centres is one of frustration as many people spend a lot of time searching for an elusive parking spot,” Mr Zempilas said.
“In the city we have thousands of parking bays, including free night-time parking in all City of Perth car parks from 6pm, as well as train lines arriving in to Perth from all parts of the metropolitan area.
“Perth has all of the big retailers, along with hundreds of specialty shops that you just can’t find in the suburbs.”
