Northbridge Piazza will transform into a live site where fans can come together to watch FIFA World Cup matches on the big screen throughout the tournament.

The live site will provide a vibrant gathering place for supporters to catch all the World Cup action and enjoy matches featuring football powerhouses from around the globe.

The live site is expected to attract thousands of visitors to Northbridge, supporting local restaurants and businesses while showcasing the precinct as a premier entertainment destination.

Approved licensed venues will also be able to take advantage of extended trading arrangements, allowing fans to enjoy the atmosphere before and after games.

City of Perth Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds said the live site will provide fans with a memorable way to experience the World Cup, right in the heart of the city centre.

"As the world’s most-watched sporting event, the World Cup brings communities together like no other and Northbridge Piazza is the perfect venue for football fans to gather and share the excitement,” Mr Reynolds said.

"Our focus is on creating a fantastic experience for the community while supporting local businesses and showcasing everything Northbridge and the city have to offer.

“During Socceroos broadcast matches, the Piazza will feature a range of fan engagement activities with Perth Glory and Football West.

“We expect the live broadcasts to create a vibrant atmosphere, attract visitors from across Perth and provide a welcome boost for local restaurants, bars and entertainment venues.

"Visitors can make a day or night of it by exploring Northbridge and the City's outstanding restaurants, bars and entertainment venues before and after the matches."

Deputy Premier and Minister for Sport and Recreation, Rita Saffioti, said Northbridge Piazza would be a fantastic location for football fans to come together and enjoy the tournament.

“The World Cup is the biggest sporting event in the world and has an incredible ability to bring people together,” she said.

“This live site will give families, friends and football fans a central place to gather, cheer on their teams and enjoy the excitement on the big screen.

“We know Perth loves getting behind the Socceroos, and this will be a great opportunity for supporters of all teams to come together in the heart of the city and be part of the atmosphere.”
