Alibi Cocktail Lounge Case Study

Located on the old Dome Café site on the corner of Lake and James Streets, Alibi elevates the site to a new level of luxury.

Alibi’s Managing Director Chris Patton says the new venue bridges the gap between traditional nightclubs and sit-down pubs.

“We wanted something that had good DJs, good music and good food all rolled into a venue that was elegant and intimate,” Mr Patton said.

Mr Patton was alerted to the City of Perth’s Business Improvement Grants program and was quick to apply for a grant to assist his new business.

“I thought it was a really good incentive because it matched exactly what we were trying to do which was to upgrade the façade and bring an old building back to life in the middle of the CBD,” he said.

“We had a lot of really great assistance from the grants team, and if I can especially mention Beverly, who did come out and walk us through the process and, to be honest, it made it so much easier.”

Alibi received the maximum $25,000 grant.

It was one of 11 City-based businesses to secure funding within the grant round.

“We were fortunate enough to re-render the whole building, repaint it all, new signage, new LED lights,” Mr Patton said.

“I feel now with the money that’s been spent and the works that have been done on the building that we are a statement to Northbridge, and I’m confident we’re going to be here for many years to come.”
