Connecting the City: Draft Transport Strategy
The City of Perth has prepared Connecting the City: Draft Transport Strategy, to guide transport planning and decision-making over the next 10 years.
The Strategy establishes a long-term vision for an integrated, accessible and sustainable transport network that supports residents, workers, visitors and businesses, while helping the City respond to future growth and changing travel needs.
The draft Strategy has been developed to:
- Establish a clear transport vision to guide the City’s decision-making and advocacy over the next decade. The vision aligns with State Government transport objectives, the City's Capital City Plan, the Local Planning Strategy and Shaping Perth’s City Centre – Towards 2036 and Beyond, prepared by global urban strategy and design firm Gehl;
- Identify and prioritise transport actions that support the City's objectives for place, mobility, accessibility, sustainability and economic vitality; and
- Set measurable transport targets to monitor progress and guide long-term improvements in urban mobility, sustainability and network performance.
Development of the draft Strategy has included background research and analysis, stakeholder engagement, and the preparation of nine discussion papers exploring key transport challenges and opportunities across the city.
The City is now seeking community feedback on the draft Strategy to help shape the future of transport in Perth. Further information can be found on the Your Say Perth website.
