City of Perth Transport Strategy
We’re developing a new Transport Strategy for the City of Perth. It will replace the previous Transport Strategy that was finalised in 2017.
The new Transport Strategy will set the City’s direction for transportation over the next 10 years with the following objectives:
- Develop a transport vision that guides the City’s decision-making and advocacy over the next decade. This vision aims to provide clear direction on transport priorities and objectives that has regard to State Government transport objectives, and aligns with the City’s Capital City Plan, Local Planning Strategy and the Shaping Perth’s City Centre – Towards 2036 and Beyond study being undertaken for the City by global urban strategy and design firm, Gehl;
- Identify and recommend a set of transport actions aligned with the City’s objectives to improve place, mobility, accessibility, and sustainability; and
- Develop measurable transport targets to guide medium and long-term progress in urban mobility, sustainability, and network efficiency.
The early phases of the project will include the following activities:
- Background data collection and analysis;
- Engagement with key stakeholders, including State Government transport agencies, neighbouring local governments and other relevant stakeholders; and
- Preparation of a series of nine Discussion Papers on key transport challenges and opportunities, which will form the background and evidence base for the Strategy.
