Central to the Neighbourhood Place Plans are the six distinct neighbourhoods within the Perth local government area - Central PerthClaisebrookCrawley-NedlandsEast PerthNorthbridge and West Perth.

The Neighbourhood Place Plans outline the City of Perth’s commitments to each neighbourhood which will be delivered in 2021/22.

The plans tailor City services, projects and resources to suit the unique characteristics and needs of each local neighbourhood and will be updated annually.

Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said the Neighbourhood Place Plans put the community at the centre of a liveable, sustainable and prosperous city.

“We’ve worked with our local neighbourhood groups and asked them what they wanted from their local government. They told us they sought a greater understanding of the projects and services we were delivering and a greater say in what we planned to deliver in the future,” he said.

“As a result, detailed in the Neighbourhood Place Plans are the unique projects the City will deliver to the six neighbourhoods over the next 12 months.

“This will serve to strengthen the relationship between the City of Perth and our 32,000 residents, 12,500 businesses and 147,000 daily work force and contribute to a vibrant capital city that has something for everyone.”

Through collaborative engagement with the community, the City adopted a Neighbourhood Place Planning and Engagement Framework, embedding key principles and approach in City policy.

A draft Local Planning Strategy was also developed which focuses on the six neighbourhood areas, their unique character, demographics and development opportunities or challenges.

Going forward, the City of Perth will work with the community to identify opportunities to enhance each neighbourhood’s unique sense of place, encourage economic activity, social wellbeing, cultural identity and ongoing development.
