Plateful Perth and the 2023 Rio Tinto Christmas Lights Trail have won silver for the City of Perth at the 2024 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards.
The Lotterywest Boorloo Heritage Festival picked up a bronze in the Festivals and Events category.
The City of Perth was also runner up in the Excellence in Local Government Award for Tourism category.
Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said last night’s awards success reflected the work Council and City staff had put into attracting record numbers of visitors to the City.
“These awards are the icing on the cake and recognition of our efforts to activate our magnificent City,” Mr Zempilas said.
“From creating events like the Lotterywest Boorloo Heritage Festival to developing campaigns such as Plateful Perth, we have maintained a clear focus over the past four years, which has helped us support our businesses, by attracting people to the City - and they are coming in record numbers."
“We’re also seeing people spending more than ever before, with Spendmapp data showing record transactions every month.”
Mr Zempilas said that the City of Perth was on a winning streak, having received recognition at several national awards in recent weeks.
“The Rio Tinto Christmas Lights Trail and Perth Town Hall won Best Community Event and Venue of the Year, respectively, at the Australian Event Awards. The City’s Urban Greening Strategy won an Australian Institute of Landscape and Architecture award.
“And finally, we were named Parking Organisation of the Year at the National Parking Industry Awards, reflecting our efforts to improve the City’s parking experience - making it faster, smarter, and easier for everyone.”
