The City of Perth has a new Deputy Lord Mayor.
At a Special Council Meeting this evening Councillor Di Bain was elected by her fellow councillors to the position of Deputy.
Prior to the meeting, the City of Perth’s four newly elected Councillors were sworn in for their new terms.
Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas congratulated the Deputy Lord Mayor on her election and the four councillors - Liam Gobbert, Clyde Bevan, Brent Fleeton and Viktor Ko - on their reappointments.
“I look forward to working with my eight colleagues on Council, our CEO and the entire Administration to continue to build on all the City of Perth has achieved over the past year,” he said.
“As a Council, we are committed to making Perth the best it can, a place where people want to live, work and play. There is a lot in the pipeline over the coming years and we are full of energy and enthusiasm to get the job done.”
The Lord Mayor extended his gratitude to Cr Sandy Anghie who had served as Deputy Lord Mayor for the past 12 months.
“On behalf of my fellow councillors, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Cr Anghie for her passionate and tireless work on behalf of the community and her contribution as Deputy Lord Mayor.”

NB: In accordance with clause 9 of Schedule 2.3 Division 2 of the Local Government Act 1995 the term of the Deputy Lord Mayor ends at each ordinary local government election.
