This week the City of Perth announced Perth - Bounce Back, Stage 1, a series of initiatives to assist City businesses through COVID.
The package includes:
- FREE night-time parking across 10,000 parking bays from this Friday (on street and all CPP car parks)
- FEE FREE fast-tracked alfresco dining permits
- FAST CASH 5k business grants
- You can find out more about at the support package at www.perth.wa.gov.au/bounceback
In the 24 hours since its release, the package has been very well received, particularly the free night-time parking – which effectively means every CPP bay in the City is free after 6pm.
Please spread the word – it’s free to park in the City at night and three car parks, Pier Street, His Majesty’s and the Cultural Centre are free for three hours on weekends.
PERTH PARKING LEVY
As we wait for the State Government to announce their own assistance package for City business owners and operators, I have renewed our Council’s call for the Premier to suspend, reduce or scrap all together the Perth Parking Levy.
The Parking Levy hurts City business. In many cases the levy makes up a large proportion of City leases.
In some instances, businesses chose not to set-up, or leave the City, for areas where the Levy is not charged.
It is a cost which can no longer be justified in its current form, particularly in this COVID environment.
I eagerly await a response from the Premier and have put this item on the agenda for our City of Perth Committee meeting early next month.
If you would like to give me specific details of how the Parking Levy impacts your business, for me to be able to pass on to the Premier, please email me at basil.zempilas@cityofperth.wa.gov.au and put PARKING LEVY in the subject line.
CITY OF LIGHT DRONE SHOW
Saturday night’s City of Light Drone Show was a triumph for our City.
Over 7000 people attended at the Elizabeth Quay precinct alone – with many thousands more in areas around the foreshore, at Kings Park, across at South Perth and on boats in the Swan River.
The event proved Elizabeth Quay can be brought to life – and can be the vibrant, bustling family zone it was always intended to be.
The drone show itself, put on by Drone Sky Shows Australia – a Perth based company, was superb. The feedback has been fabulous, people loved it and Saturday night’s show was the first of many. Watch this space.
The anniversary weekend was the perfect time to launch the new era of Perth – City of Light and refresh our brand.
Endorsed by the Brand Perth forum last July, two Perth companies, Block Branding and Nani Creative were given the job of creating a look to match the spirit of City of Light. What they came up with is fresh, fun, authentic and a great representation of our modern City.
The new logo doesn’t replace our traditional crest, but rather sits alongside it as our municipal logo.
The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
Let me know what you think of our new City of Light brand and I'll see you in the City.
