A total of 87 development planning application determinations and 161 building permits were issued during the period.

The determinations amount to $15.7 million in development value from April to June, taking the year’s total value to more than $500 million. The conversion of 24 Mount Street from hotel to student accommodation aligns with the recent push to increase student accommodation stock within the City.

The building permits issued this quarter amount to a value of $251.7 million, taking the year’s total value to almost $2 billion. Key projects included the $20.5 million internal fit-out at Stirling Street to expand student accommodation facilities, and the $19 million works at Murray Street benefiting St George's Anglican Grammar School.

The City’s city living incentives continue to drive residential development activity within Central Perth, with a further $5,850 in City fees waived planning application fees during the quarter. This brings the total of incentives accessed this year to $147,965.

The City’s commitment to supporting sustainable growth and development was on show again during the quarter. Excellent service delivery standards were maintained, ensuring that 100% of development applications and 99.6% of building applications were processed within statutory timeframes.
