City of Perth bursting with school holiday activities
There’s no denying it - spring has well and truly sprung. The weather is warming, and the flowers are blossoming for what is set to be another magnificent spring in the city for the school holiday season.
From wildflower festivals, children’s entertainment and colourful installations, the city is in full bloom
The Perth Cultural Centre has come alive with activities, exhibitions and performances for the annual 2021 AWESOME Festival, sponsored by the City of Perth.
“At the AWESOME Festival, families can meet local authors, experience world class ballet, create their own artworks and enjoy being out and about in our beautiful city,” City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said.
“It’s through sponsoring, facilitating and supporting events such as these that makes Perth a vibrant, iconic destination; a place of possibility where great things happen.”
The City of Perth has also launched its Perth Trails app ahead of the school holidays, allowing families to take self-guided tours at their own pace, discover the rich history and interesting landmarks Perth has to offer. Perth Trails is available for download in the app store and on Google Play.
Taking kids and families on a journey through the City of Perth’s neighbourhoods, the app features a number of walking trails that showcase a range of historical buildings, points of interest and family fun – there’s even recommendations on where to stop for treats with the kids.
Visitors can also take advantage of three-hour free parking on weekends in three centrally located CPP car parks:
• CPP Cultural Centre carpark, 2 Roe Street, Northbridge
• CPP His Majesty's carpark, 377 Murray Street, Perth
• CPP Pier Street carpark, 87-89 Pier Street, Perth

Sealink Perth AFL Masters National Carnival

Each year the AFL Masters Carnival is held in a unique location around Australia. There is a healthy balance of football and carnival events for the whole family. More than 1500 people will attend the AFL Masters National Carnival as up to 35 football teams across Australia compete in age groups ranging from 35 to over 60 years.
The 2021 AWESOME Festival

The Perth Cultural Centre will come alive with activities, exhibitions and performances for the annual AWESOME Festival. Hiccup! by Windmill Theatre will delight children and adults alike, while Blinky Bill is on the Loose from KoBugs Theatre Company will fill the WA Museum City Room with music and bush creatures. WA Ballet’s Peter and the Wolf
Until 2 October | 11am | Perth Cultural Centre Outdoor Stage, James Street Amphitheatre | Free
West Australian Ballet and the 2021 AWESOME Festival Present Peter and The Wolf. This specially adapted fairy tale is the perfect way for young children (and their grown-ups) to discover the magic of ballet.
Yarning with Djurandi Dreaming
30 September | 11am to 12pm | City of Perth Library | Free | Book: yarning.eventbrite.com.au
Enjoy a captivating storytelling session by Djurandi Dreaming and learn about the Nyoongar people, their history and culture. Recommended for ages two and above.
Kings Park Festival

Running throughout September, Kings Park Festival will celebrate the amazing flora of Western Australia blossoming across the State and the thousands of wildflowers in full bloom in Kings Park and Bold Park.
WA Opera’s Koolbardi wer Wardong
2, 5 and 6 October | Time varies | His Majesty’s Theatre | Ticketed
WA Opera in association with the AWESOME Festival, West Australian Young Voices and the Western Australian Youth Orchestra present Koolbardi wer Wardong. Koolbardi the Magpie and Wardong the Crow are two very proud, vain, jealous brothers. Set on Noongar Boodja (the south west corner of Western Australia), we invite you to join us for a journey back to the Nyittiny, the time of creation, where love, loyalty, betrayal and jealousy are all stretched to their limits.

Light Labyrinth

Experience the wonders of the Perth Illuminated maze. Beautiful day and night you can weave your way through a world of colour.
10th Light Horse Regiment
10 October | From 1pm| Langley Park | Free
Celebrate the re-raising of the iconic 10th Light Horse Regiment - Western Australia's own cavalry. This activity will include various army vehicles, a team of 10th Light Horse historical society members in period costume on horses and a large contingent of army personnel. This will be followed by a parade from Langley Park up through the city.
Sticker Art

Use coloured stickers to create an eye-catching picture of a penguin, butterfly, giraffe, or fish. Match the stickers to the numbers on the page to create your masterpiece! Recommended for ages two and above
