We know great events and a diverse calendar which offers something for everyone helps bring people into the City and we’ve seen that this weekend.
The City of Perth has recorded its biggest week of night-time activity for 2022.
Figures show last weeks’ Monday to Sunday evening activity across the City was 14% higher than any time this year.
Northbridge has also experienced the two busiest weekends of 2022 over the last two weekends.
City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said it was fantastic to see recent events such as the Saturday nights Alinta Energy Christmas Pageant, the ongoing Rio Tinto Christmas Lights Trail, last weeks’ PRIDE parade plus the Socceroos v Argentina live site at Northbridge Piazza bringing people into the City.
“We know great events and a diverse calendar which offers something for everyone helps bring people into the City and we’ve seen that this weekend,” Mr Zempilas said.
“From the switching on of the GPO Christmas lights and the Hawkers Market at Forrest Place on Friday, to the Christmas Pageant on Saturday and then the Socceroos broadcast in the early hours of Sunday morning, we’ve seen our biggest week of night-time activity so far this year. This is great news for City businesses.”
The Lord Mayor said the events program is backed up by the City’s #FindYourScene marketing campaign to ensure the trend continues.
“We have the WA Symphony Orchestra’s Christmas spectacular at RAC arena and Carols in the City at Supreme Court Gardens. Both events are on Saturday, 10 December and are free. And we have the Elizabeth Quay Fun Fair starting on Friday night, which will feature fireworks displays every Saturday night.
“There’s never been a better time to come into the city and soak up the festivities, as well as support one of our many local shops, restaurants and bars,” Mr Zempilas said.
The Rio Tinto Christmas Lights Trail is on until 2 January, 2023. Adding Christmas cheer, Santa will be making an appearance every Friday night in the Malls and every Saturday at Council House.
Across the entire festive season, the City of Perth is offering:
- Free parking at all CPP carparks after 6pm
Three-hour free parking on weekends at CPP Cultural Centre, Pier Street and His Majesty’s.
