Upcoming work with Water Corporation
Langley Park, Ozone Reserve, Point Fraser
As part of our ongoing commitment to future-proof Perth’s water supply, Water Corporation will soon be carrying out investigation work in preparation for the eventual replacement of the water main within Langley Park, Ozone Reserve and Point Fraser, in the City of Perth.
The replacement of the water main is essential to prevent future leaks and breaks and improve the security and reliability of water supply to Perth CBD and surrounding suburbs for decades to come.
Where is this happening?
Water Corporation’s authorised contractors, DM Civil and Veris, will carry out investigation work including service locating and testing of ground conditions between Bennet Street and the Causeway, within Langley Park, Ozone Reserve and Point Fraser.
When is it happening?
Investigation work will take place from Monday 10 August to the end of September 2020. Work will be completed Monday to Friday between 7am and 5pm. Future water main renewal work within Langley Park, Ozone Reserve and Point Fraser is currently planned to take place between winter and spring 2021. We will be in touch with you again at least a couple of months before construction starts.
Why is this happening?
Investigations are required to understand ground conditions for the design of the new pipe and to locate underground services such as gas, electricity, telecommunications, drains, valves, and unknown or retired infrastructure. The confirmed ground conditions and location of these services will determine the best design, construction arrangements and timing of the water main renewal project.
Investigation of ground conditions involves three excavation sites: two within Ozone Reserve and one within Point Fraser. The larger, excavation areas will be secured by fencing. Service location work will involve small, isolated excavations or potholes which will be reinstated immediately after.
Other impacts include:
- An increase in personnel and traffic in the area
- Some footpaths may be partially or fully obstructed
- Minor increase in noise, dust and vibrations
- There may be temporary lane closures, however traffic management will be in place
There will be no impact on your water supply during these investigation works.
