Now in its 32nd year and bursting with colour and joy, the parade once again formed the pinnacle event in the month-long celebration that is PrideFEST.
City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said the City is proud to host the Pride Parade in Northbridge, the spiritual home of WA’s LGBTQIA+ community.
“The Pride Parade is always one of the biggest street parties of the year, and last night was no exception. The City of Light came alive for a powerful party for PrideFEST!” Mr Zempilas said.
“Despite the hot conditions, the streets were packed, with the people of Perth turning out in their thousands to support this spectacular parade and to celebrate our City’s rainbow community,” he said.
“Congratulations to Pride WA for organising another wonderful event which brings great colour, joy and connection to our City of Light and helps spread the word that everyone can be proud to be who they are in our great City.”
The City of Perth continued a proud tradition of support for PrideFEST which included $210,000 in sponsorship towards the Parade, and saw City staff take part in FairDay and proudly march in the Parade alongside the community.
