Marking its 33rd year, the Parade remained the highlight of PrideFEST, a 10-day celebration to honour Western Australia’s LGBTQIA+ community.

City of Perth staff brought along their friends and families to take part, waving their rainbow wings and donning their glittery jewels to symbolise Perth as a City of Love.

City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said it was great to see thousands of people line the streets of Northbridge to show support for the LGBTQIA+ community.

“The Pride Parade is always a highlight on the PrideFEST calendar, and this year stood out – being brighter and bolder than ever before!” Mr Zempilas said.

“The City of Light was shining bright last night, showcasing Northbridge as a hub of inclusion and diversity. The streets were filled with thousands of people, coming together to cheer on our rainbow community,” he added.

“Congratulations to Pride WA for organising yet another incredible PrideFEST that fills our City with colour, joy, and a sense of connection. Events like this remind everyone that Perth is a place where we can all take pride in being ourselves.”

The City has committed more than $1 million to support PrideFEST from 2024 to 2026, further enhancing the 26-years of sponsorship of the festival. City staff also demonstrated their support for the LGBTQIA+ community by participating in the Fairday, held for the first time at Supreme Court Gardens.

Also, to celebrate PrideFEST 2024, the Council House Gallery is featuring Intrinsèque, a new series of works by Christophe Canato, commissioned by the City of Perth to celebrate LGBTQIA+ communities through photography. The exhibition also includes works by a range of Australian LGBTQIA+ artists.
