December is here, the warm weather has arrived and our City is hotting up.
CITY ALIVE
The CBD has been bursting this week and the numbers reflect the trend which shows there are more people in the City… and those people are spending more money.
For the opening two weekends of the Christmas Lights Trail, the number of visitors on Friday nights is up 35.4 per cent compared to the same time last year while Saturday attendance is up 38 per cent compared to the first two weekends of 2020.
On top of that, expenditure in the City is $20m higher in October, compared to the same month last year.
All up, expenditure in the City is up 7.8 per cent for the year and pedestrian activity is up 36 per cent for the year compared with 2020.
So - more people in the City, staying longer and spending more.
PERTH’S BEST CHRISTMAS TREE
It’s just gone up - directly opposite Piccadilly Arcade on the Murray Street Mall.
It’s 13 metres tall, features 250 decorations, 4000 digital lights, 450 white strobes and a whopping 1.5m star on top.
The kids love it. So do the big ones!
PARKING – NO HASSLES IN PERTH
There are no parking hassles in the City. Unlike the shopping centres, where you can’t always drive straight in and straight out again when you’re finished.
And of course – this weekend and every weekend you can enjoy three hours free parking at three of our best car parks: CPP His Majesty's. CPP Cultural Centre and CPP Pier Street.
BACK WHERE IT BELONGS
The Alinta Energy Christmas Pageant is on tomorrow – back to its traditional route straight down St Georges Terrace. It’s one of the great Perth traditions and just like me, it’s celebrating its 50th year!
Come on in and I’ll give you a wave from the Paddle Steamer!
AND DON’T FORGET…
... the Twilight Hawkers Markets are back every Friday night in Forrest Place.
The Christmas Nativity in on in Forrest Place on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th of December.
The WASO Lotterywest Christmas Spectacular is on at the RAC Arena on Saturday December 11th with two shows at 2pm and 7pm.
And finally of course, our favourite, the Christmas Lights Trail is on every night until January 2.
