Coles today announced the launch of a state-wide fundraising appeal to support the cyclone-affected residents.

From tomorrow, Coles customers will be able to help communities affected by Cyclone Seroja by making a donation to support the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund at any Coles supermarket in Western Australia.

Lord Mayor Distress Relief Fund Board Chair and City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas thanked Coles for launching the fundraising appeal and urged Western Australians to give what they can.

“I continue to encourage all Western Australians to dig deep and support the appeal, together we can make a real difference to the lives of our fellow Western Australians in their time of need.

“We know today that numerous residents and businesses in our State’s mid-west are still without power. Our hearts go out to all those Western Australians affected,” Board Chair Basil Zempilas said.

Containers for Change has enabled Western Australians to help communities affected by Tropical Cyclone Seroja by donating the refund from their eligible drink containers directly to the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund appeal.

To make a donation, containers can be returned to any refund point in Western Australia using the Scheme ID: C10414519.

Each eligible container is worth 10c, with the money going direct to the Tropical Cyclone Seroja Appeal. For more information, head to containersforchange.com.au.

Over the coming weeks, the Fund will work with the affected local governments and the State Recovery Coordinator to support everyone who has been impacted by Tropical Cyclone Seroja and disburse the money raised to all those in need.
