The event will officiate Elected Members into their new role on Council to lead the City and focus on growing Perth as a global city positioned for future prosperity.

The swearing-in will commence with a smoking ceremony by Dr Richard Walley OAM and a Welcome to Country and formal proceedings will follow in the Government House Ballroom.

4:30pm – Smoking Ceremony to commence in the Lady Kyle Garden at Government House (directly opposite the Ballroom, adjacent to St Georges Terrace)
5:00pm – Formal Proceedings in the Government House Ballroom

Media Access:

Smoking Ceremony in front of Government House (4:15pm) 

Media are invited to attend and obtain footage of the smoking ceremony in the Lady Kyle Garden at Government House (directly opposite the Ballroom, adjacent to St Georges Terrace) and film City of Perth Elected Members entering the Government House Ballroom for the formal proceedings. 

Please enter through the Ballroom Entry Gate via the Government House Laneway (refer to Access Map below). Parking is not available at Government House.

Formal Proceedings in Government House Ballroom (5pm – 5:55pm) 

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a limited number of people will be provided access to the Ballroom for the formal Swearing-In proceedings. As such, media will not be permitted entry into the Ballroom to obtain footage of the Swearing-In Ceremony. The City of Perth has arranged for pool footage of the ceremony to be distributed to all networks. The City of Perth will also provide media with imagery of the ceremony following formal proceedings.
