The City of Perth has responded to concerns from Perth City businesses about the ongoing impact of COVID-19 with a new support package.
Launched today by Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas, Perth Bounce Back Stage 1 offers targeted support for COVID-19-impacted City businesses through three key initiatives:
- Free night-time parking;
- Fee-Free alfresco dining permits;
- Quick cash business grants.
Starting this Friday, February 25, people will be able to access more than 10,000 car bays across City of Perth car parks for free, seven days a week, from 6pm.
The incentive will encourage more people to drive into the City for a night out at one of the City’s great hospitality venues, or even a staycation at a City hotel.
Businesses will be encouraged to take advantage of the City’s fee-free and fast-tracked service for alfresco dining permits and set-up outdoor dining spaces in time for Perth’s perfect Autumn weather.
Applications will also open today for the City’s Small Business Bounce Back Grants – offering eligible businesses up to $5,000 to help them attract new customers and sustain their operations in a COVID-19 environment.
Examples of initiatives the City may consider for grant support include the establishment or improvement of outdoor dining areas, professional marketing services and COVID-19 safety measures -including safety screens and barriers and cleaning services.
Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said the three focus areas of the package were identified from City business feedback to ease the burden on businesses in the current climate.
“Vibrant and viable cafes, restaurants and retailers are essential to our City – not just to service locals, but to rebuild our reputation as the City of Light nationally and internationally when borders open,” he said.
“While Perth Bounce Back is our initial support response, we will continue to work with City businesses on future initiatives that respond to their needs.
“It’s part of our big picture approach to bringing people back to the City, which includes a $3 million budget to attract and deliver more exciting City events.”
