National and international artists will shine alongside our own home-grown talent this week, as part of an exciting Perth Festival program in the City of Light.

Perth Festival will host more than 130 shows and events across more than 20 venues from February 10 – March 5. This year’s theme, celebrating the festival’s 70th anniversary, is Djinda - the Noongar word for stars.

City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said the Perth Festival shows will add to an already packed Summer events calendar in the City of Light.

“The City is so proud to support Perth Festival for another year. There’s no better time for the people of Perth to come together to celebrate music, art and theatre,” Mr Zempilas said.

“This year, the City is honoured to welcome Björk, one of the most celebrated artists on the planet, for an exclusive concert at Langley Park. It’s a major coup for the City, Perth is her only Australian stop and tickets will be in high demand,” he said.

As part of the festival, the Rechabite in Northbridge will be transformed into the City’s musical hotspot every night, with some of the most exciting acts from across the globe.

During the festival’s final weekend, show goers can get involved in a free and interactive artistic projection from the Art Gallery of WA rooftop.

“Audience members can help artist Michaela Greave’s compose a collaborative Morse code poem and then watch as it is transmitted into the night sky – it will be the epitome of the City of Light,” Mr Zempilas said.

Perth Festival Executive Director Nathan Bennett said: “We are thrilled to be marking Perth Festival’s 70th anniversary in 2023 with a glittering celebration of the stars that gathers a galaxy of international, national and local artistic stars here with us in Perth.

“We are proud and thankful to have the City of Perth as our long-time supporter and are very happy to be working together again to showcase and activate our wonderful city for locals and visitors alike at this special time of the year,” Bennett said.

In August 2022, City of Perth council approved $400,000 in sponsorship to support Perth Festival.

Tickets to Perth Festival are on sale via the website.
