The original bridge, which was constructed in 1973, has been replaced due to old age.

It was named after John Oldham, one of the country’s leading landscape architects, responsible for landscaping dozens of Perth landmarks, including the Narrows Interchange and Parliament House.  

The new bridge is a replica of the old bridge. With the bridge deck made from recycled timber recovered from Trafalgar Bridge deck replacement in Claisebrook.
