A message from the Lord Mayor
It’s 12 months since the new City of Perth Council was elected to represent our City.
12 months of hard work, listening to the community, working together and delivering for Perth.
This month, our progress was endorsed by the ratepayers and residents of the City of Perth when our four incumbent candidates, Liam Gobbert, Clyde Bevan, Brent Fleeton and Dr Viktor Ko were all returned in the October local government elections.
That means our team stays together. We get to finish the job we’ve started.
Together with Sandy Anghie, Di Bain, Rebecca Gordon, Catherine Lezer and me as Lord Mayor, your nine elected members promise to continue to put our ratepayers first – in every decision we make – every time.
It’s why we delivered on a promise of a zero percent rate increase, it’s why we fought for a one off payment of $25 million for the WACA aquatic facility, not carry the ongoing lifetime costs, it’s why we continue to advocate for more Police in the City and it’s why from late November we will deliver the best Christmas Lights Trail our City has ever seen.
Here are some of the highlights from an incredibly productive and rewarding first 12 months in office together.
And as much as what has been achieved – it’s the way we have achieved it - professionally, transparently, cohesively and respectfully, exactly what you would expect from us and what we expect from each other.
There is much work still to be done, but the new era has begun and your new City of Perth Council is excited by what we can deliver together.
