Public Trading Permit application

Public trading permits are required if you intend to trade or conduct business activities in a public place such as City of Perth land, footpaths, thoroughfares and parks. 

“Trading” includes selling, hiring, soliciting, displaying or offering goods or services.

Types of public trading activities may include:

  • Electronic personal transporters
  • Fitness groups 
  • Food trucks and mobile vendors
  • Fundraising, collections, petitioning
  • Pedestrian barriers  (outside of business premises)
  • Retail & stall holders

If you would like to set up any infrastructure (tables, stalls, shade etc) please contact Activity Approvals to discuss your needs prior to applying.

Please note, all Public Trading Permit applications are subject to internal and external assessment. Generally, applications that directly compete with local businesses are not supported.

Public Trading Permit Conditions

  • A hard or soft copy of the permit must be in possession of the permit holder or permit holder’s site representative at all times.
  • Public liability insurance must be maintained for the duration of the permit.
  • Organisers will be required to pay for any damages arising from any activity.

Please note: these are minimum conditions on Public Trading Permits. Upon assessment of your application, additional conditions may be included on your final permit.
