Phat Brew Case Study – No Eye Deer

Phat Brew Club was one of 13 City-based businesses awarded a Business Improvement Grant round at the July 2023 Ordinary Council Meeting.

The West Perth microbrewery, known for its weird and funky craft beers, received $25,000 to activate a vacant 20sqm storage room adjacent to the brewery. They turned the space into a hole-in-the-wall coffee shop, now home to a brand-new City of Perth business, No Eye Deer Coffee.

City West visitors now have a convenient spot to grab a quick coffee, or gourmet toastie. No Eye Deer is located directly across from the City West train station.

The project has added amenity to the City West area, activating an underutilised space and creating vibrancy during hours when the brewery is not open. The City is proud to assist local businesses like Phat Brew Club, to embark on projects that support business growth and promote visitation and vibrancy in our city.

Phat Brew’s co-founder Travis shared his advice to future applicants...

“Get in touch with the team at the City of Perth, talk to them about what your concept or proposal is and get some advice…, make sure your application is strong because it’s such a competitive process.”
