In a move to make alfresco dining more accessible to businesses, Commissioners for the City of Perth have removed outdoor dining fees and overseen a streamlined online application process.

Chair Commissioner Eric Lumsden said the move is aimed at making it easier for businesses to gain alfresco dining approval.

“Combine this with ongoing parking initiatives, and we believe we’re on the right track to supporting local businesses,” Chair Commissioner Lumsden said.

“In addition to scrapping the alfresco licence fees, a web-based self-accreditation for outdoor dining applications simplifies the process, including the introduction of a provisional permit which allows businesses to commence outdoor dining trading immediately.

“Upon an onsite compliance assessment being undertaken, the final permit can then be issued to the business at the click of a button.

“Outdoor dining has been a priority for the Commissioners, and we’re glad to see an outcome that benefits not only businesses, but City visitors who want to make the most of Perth’s amazing weather.”
