The country’s most successful international petroleum industry event, the Australasian Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition (AOG), will open at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre in March 2019.

Chair Commissioner Eric Lumsden said by 2019 Australia is expected to produce 77-million tonnes of LNG, and is set to become the second biggest Australian resource exported by dollar value.

“Continued support for AOG will reinforce Perth’s ongoing attractiveness to the oil and gas sector,” Commissioner Lumsden said.

“This sector is a major contributor to the economy of our city, with the annual free to the public event highlighting Perth as the industry’s Asia-Pacific capital.

“Perth gains national and international investment, tourism exposure and business opportunities from an event of this nature.”

By the end of the year, Western Australia will have five operating LNG export projects, with a total capacity of close to 50 million tonnes a year.

Last year’s event drew a total attendance of more than 8, 000 people, with $18-million injected into the local economy.

AOG 2019 will be held from 13-15 March 2019.
