This August, Plateful Perth is set to turn the City of Light into a gastronomic paradise, injecting bursts of flavour and vibrancy to every corner of the city! Get ready to indulge in the city's culinary treasures through an array of exclusive offers, events, and experiences.

Plateful Perth is not just a campaign; it's a celebration of taste and a feast for the senses that you won't want to miss.

Plateful Perth provides an incredible platform to showcase your business and draw in eager foodies from far and wide. Nowhere else in WA offers the sheer volume and variety that the city's vibrant hospitality scene delivers.

Eligibility criteria

To be considered for Plateful Perth, venues need to meet the following criteria:

  • Events criteria

    One-off special events such as a collaboration, progressive dinner, or other unique dining opportunity.

    1. Established bricks and mortar venue (restaurant, bar or bistro): Your businesses should occupy a permanent physical location within the City of Perth and use a service team that provides food and/or drinks to patrons. Quick service restaurants (QSRs), takeaway-only venues and small cafes are not eligible.
    2. Approved and registered food business: Your venue must be approved and registered with the City of Perth as a food business.
    3. Compliant with Australian Food Standards Code: Your venue must comply with all relevant sections of the Australian Food Standards Code.
    4. August: Your event will take place during the month of August.
    5. Exclusive and unique to Plateful Perth: Your event will be exclusive and unique to Plateful Perth. This means that it should not be available anywhere else and should be something that people would only come to Plateful Perth to experience.
    6. Food and/or beverage component: Your event will incorporate a food and/or beverage component and be of a high standard. This means that the food and/or drinks should be of good quality, the service should be excellent, and the overall experience should be enjoyable.
    7. Self-funded: Your event will be self-funded. 
    8. Self-promoted: We will support the program through an extensive advertising campaign, however venues running events or experiences will also be expected to self-promote their Plateful Perth offering through their own channels, such as websites or social media. We will provide a digital toolkit to assist with this.
  • Experiences criteria

    Unique dining and drinking experiences that occur throughout the month, such as special menus, pop-ups, and masterclasses.

    1. Established bricks and mortar venue (restaurant, bar or bistro): Your businesses should occupy a permanent physical location within the City of Perth and use a service team that provides food and/or drinks to patrons. Quick service restaurants (QSRs), takeaway-only venues and small cafes are not eligible.
    2. Approved and registered food business: Your venue must be approved and registered with the City of Perth as a food business.
    3. Compliant with Australian Food Standards Code: Your venue must comply with all relevant sections of the Australian Food Standards Code.
    4. August: Your venue’s experiences will take place during the month of August.
    5. Exclusive and unique to Plateful Perth: Your experiences will be exclusive and unique to Plateful Perth. This means that it should not be available anywhere else and should be something that people would only come to Plateful Perth to experience.
    6. Food and/or beverage component: Your event will incorporate a food and/or beverage component and be of a high standard. This means that the food and/or drinks should be of good quality, the service should be excellent, and the overall experience should be enjoyable.

    Special offers of significant value that run throughout the month such as set menus, free beverage with meal, or meal combinations.

    1. Established bricks and mortar venue (restaurant, bar or bistro): Your businesses should occupy a permanent physical location within the City of Perth and use a service team that provides food and/or drinks to patrons. Quick service restaurants (QSRs), takeaway-only venues and small cafes are not eligible.
    2. Approved and registered food business: Your venue must be approved and registered with the City of Perth as a food business.
    3. Compliant with Australian Food Standards Code: Your venue must comply with all relevant sections of the Australian Food Standards Code.
    4. August: Your offer will be available during the month of August when Plateful Perth will be taking place.
    5. Exclusive and unique to Plateful Perth: Your offer will be exclusive and unique to Plateful Perth. This means that it should not be available anywhere else.
    6. Self-funded: Your offer will be self-funded. 
    7. Minimum discount or added value: Your offer will provide a minimum 30% discount or 30% added value. This means that the total value of the offer must be at least 30% less than the regular price or at least 30% more than the regular price.

  • What are the costs associated with participating in Plateful Perth?

    There is no cost for venues to participate in Plateful Perth.

    Businesses are responsible for funding and promoting their own offers, events, or experiences for Plateful Perth 2024. Businesses will receive a handy toolkit with resources to help market their unique offerings independently.

    The City will manage the overall campaign promotion and drive traffic through paid advertising, including outdoor, digital, radio, and print to boost campaign awareness and participation.

    All ticket sales will go to the participating venue.

     
  • What is the timeline for participating in Plateful Perth?
    • Online applications open: You can begin submitting your online application now via the link here.

    • Closing date for online applications: The deadline for submitting your online application is 15 March 
    • Confirmation of program participation: If you are selected to participate in the program, you will be notified by 25 March 2024.

  • Why was August selected as the month for the campaign?
    August is typically a quieter period for hospitality businesses in Perth, so it's a great time to offer special deals and events to attract new customers.
  • What are the marketing and promotion opportunities available?

    We’ll promote Plateful Perth through an extensive paid advertising campaign. The campaign will include outdoor, digital, radio and print advertising to generate awareness and participation in the program’s offers and events.

    You’ll also receive a toolkit with resources to help promote your business’s offer, event or experience.

  • How can I find out more about the campaign?

    We’re hosting two information sessions on Tuesday 20 February. These sessions will provide businesses with an opportunity to learn more about the City's upcoming program and how they can get involved.

    The sessions will be held at Council House, 27 St Georges Terrace, Perth.

  • I am a non-hospitality business. How can I get involved?
    For non-hospitality businesses, there’s still an opportunity to make the most of the extra foot traffic the program will bring into the City. Have a think about what your business could offer customers this August, and post about it on the Visit Perth business portal for a free plug.
     
  • How do customers book the offers, events and experiences?

    Customers can book events, and experiences through your own booking system. Offers should be booked via venues usual booking systems.
