The City of Perth is excited to launch Plateful Perth this August. It’s a month-long celebration, showcasing the very best of our City’s world-class dining scene.

Plateful Perth will highlight the culinary delights in the City of Light – boosting the City’s vibrancy one delicious plate of food at a time, through exclusive offers, events, and experiences.

There’s no better place for dining than the City and we’re going to prove it with Plateful Perth.

  • Calling all hospitality businesses!
    The City of Perth is excited to launch Plateful Perth this August. It’s a month-long celebration, showcasing the very best of our City’s world-class dining scene.

    Plateful Perth will highlight the culinary delights in the City of Light – boosting the City’s vibrancy one delicious plate of food at a time, through exclusive offers, events, and experiences.

    There’s no better place for dining than the City and we’re going to prove it with Plateful Perth.

    There is no cost for venues to participate, but spaces in the program are limited. 

    We’ll promote Plateful Perth through an extensive paid advertising campaign, which will include outdoor, digital, radio and print advertising to get people excited about dining out in the City of Light.

    If you're interested in taking part in the Plateful Perth, please review the eligibility criteria, application process, and submit an online application by 12pm, Wednesday 7 June 2023. 
  • Eligibility Criteria
    To be considered for Plateful Perth, venues need to meet the following criteria:

    Events/ experiences Criteria 

    I.e., collaborations, masterclasses, or special one-off event dinners.

    1. Established bricks and mortar venue (restaurant, bar or bistro): Your businesses should occupy a permanent physical location within the City of Perth, and use a service team that provides food and/or drinks to patrons. Quick service restaurants (QSRs), takeaway-only venues and small cafes are not eligible.
    2. Approved and registered food business: Your venue must be approved and registered with the City of Perth as a food business.
    3. Compliant with Australian Food Standards Code: Your venue must comply with all relevant sections of the Australian Food Standards Code.
    4. August: Your event/experience will take place during the month of August.
    5. Substantial frequency and/or capacity: Your event is to be substantial in frequency and/or capacity. This means that it should be held regularly and/or be able to accommodate a large number of people.
    6. Exclusive and unique to Plateful Perth: Your event will be exclusive and unique to Plateful Perth. This means that it should not be available anywhere else and should be something that people would only come to Plateful Perth to experience.
    7. Food and/or beverage component: Your event will incorporate a food and/or beverage component and be of a high standard. This means that the food and/or drinks should be of good quality, the service should be excellent, and the overall experience should be enjoyable.
    8. Self-funded: Your event will be self-funded. You may be eligible to apply for a City of Perth Local Activation Grant.
    9. Self-promoted: We will support the program through an extensive advertising campaign, however venues running events or experiences will also be expected to self-promote their Plateful Perth offering through their own channels, such as websites or social media. We will provide a digital toolkit to assist with this.

    Offers Criteria

    I.e., 3 courses for $50, free beverage with meal etc.

    1. Established bricks and mortar venue (restaurant, bar or bistro): Your businesses should occupy a permanent physical location within the City of Perth, and use a service team that provides food and/or drinks to patrons. Quick service restaurants (QSRs), takeaway-only venues and small cafes are not eligible.
    2. Approved and registered food business: Your venue must be approved and registered with the City of Perth as a food business.
    3. Compliant with Australian Food Standards Code: Your venue must comply with all relevant sections of the Australian Food Standards Code.
    4. August: Your offer will be available during the month of August when Plateful Perth will be taking place.
    5. Exclusive and unique to Plateful Perth: Your offer will be exclusive and unique to Plateful Perth. This means that it should not be available anywhere else.
    6. Self-funded: Your offer will be self-funded. You may be eligible to apply for a City of Perth Local Activation Grant.
    7. Minimum discount or added value: Your offer will provide a minimum 30% discount or 30% added value. This means that the total value of the offer must be at least 30% less than the regular price or at least 30% more than the regular price.
    8. Availability: Your offer will be available at least 30% of your working week for a minimum of 30% of covers. 
  • Application Process

    To participate in the program, submit an online application by 12pm, Wednesday 7 June 2023. Spaces are limited, and successful applicants will be chosen based on eligibility criteria and the best fit for the program.

  • What are the costs associated with participating in Plateful Perth?

    There is no cost for venues to participate in Plateful Perth.

    Businesses will be responsible for funding their own offers, events or experiences, but the City will promote these free-of-charge through the program and marketing campaign. All ticket sales will go to the participating venue.

    You may be eligible for a Local Activation Grant to help support your individual events and activations. More information is available here.

  • What is the timeline for participating in Plateful Perth?
    • Online applications open: You can begin submitting your online application on 23 May 2023, at 12:00PM AWST.
    • Closing date for online applications: The deadline for submitting your online application is 7 June 2023, at 12:00PM AWST. Please note that late applications will not be accepted.
    • Confirmation of program participation: If you are selected to participate in the program, you will be notified by 16 June 2023, at 5:00PM AWST.
    • Plateful Perth will take place: 1 – 31 August 2023.
     
  • Why was August selected as the month for the campaign?
    August is typically a quieter period for hospitality businesses in Perth, so it's a great time to offer special deals and events to attract new customers.
  • How can I apply for a City of Perth Local Activation Grant?
    Businesses in the City of Perth that are participating in Plateful Perth may be eligible to apply for a Local Activation Grant to help support individual events  or activations. More information can be found here
  • What are the marketing and promotion opportunities available?

    We’ll promote Plateful Perth through an extensive paid advertising campaign. The campaign will include outdoor, digital, radio and print advertising to generate awareness and participation in the program’s offers and events.

    You’ll also receive a toolkit with resources to help promote your business’s offer, event or experience.

     
  • How can I find out more about the campaign?

    We’re hosting two information sessions on Tuesday 30 May at 10am and 4pm. These sessions will provide businesses with an opportunity to learn more about the City's upcoming program and how they can get involved. 

    The sessions will be held at Council House, 27 St Georges Terrace, Perth.

  • What are examples of offers, events and experiences?

    Here are some examples of offers, events and experiences that are friendly and inviting:

    Offers: 3 courses for $60, free beverage with meal, buy one get one free, happy hour specials. 

    Events/ experiences: Collaborations, masterclasses, special one-off event dinners.

  • I am a non-hospitality business. How can I get involved?
    For non-hospitality businesses, there’s still an opportunity to make the most of the extra foot traffic the program will bring into the City. Have a think about what your business could offer customers this August, and post about it on the Visit Perth business portal for a free plug.
     
  • How do customers book the offers, events and experiences?

    Customers can book events, and experiences through your own booking system or via the Plateful Perth website. There is no charge to host on this platform. If you choose to use your own booking system, please provide the program facilitators (info@platefulperth.com.au) with regular updates on bookings so that we can promote your offer or event.

    Offers should be booked via venues usual booking systems. Please regularly updated the program facilitators (info@platefulperth.com.au) on booking numbers so we can help promote your offer.
