Road Closure - EVENT - Chinese New Year - 22 February 2026
TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE - EVENTS
The Chinese New Year event hosted by Chung Wah Association will take place on James and Lake Street in Northbridge on Sunday 22 February 2026 from 12pm to 9pm.
The event is a free community street event, including stalls, food trucks, entertainment/music and a parade.
EVENT DETAILS
Event: Chinese New Year Fair
Location: James St (between William St and Mountain Tce) and Lake Street (between Roe and Francis St)
Event times: 12:00pm to 9:00pm
Bump In: From 4:00am Sunday 22 February
Bump Out: Until 11:30pm Sunday 22 February.
ROAD CLOSURES
In the interest of public safety, road closures will be in effect during the event. These closures will be implemented on Sunday 22 February 2026 from 4 am to 11.30pm on:
- James Street between William and Mountain Terrace
- Lake Street between Francis and Roe Street
TOWING
Towing of unauthorised vehicles within the event site will occur on Sunday 22 February 2026 between:
- 4am-5am
- James Street between William and Lake Street
- 6am-7am
- James Street between Lake Street and Mountain Terrace
- Lake Street between Francis and Roe Street

Vehicles that do not comply with the restrictions may be infringed and/or towed at the owner’s expense. No vehicle entry or exit will be permitted into properties or businesses within the road closure areas, and driveways may be blocked as part of the Hostile Vehicle Mitigation Strategy and Traffic Management Plan.
In the event of a medical emergency, access will be granted through road closures. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. The City works closely with emergency services (DFES, St John Ambulance, and WAPOL) to manage these closures.
PARKING RESTRICTIONS
Street parking within the closures will be unavailable with “No Stopping” hoods from 4am on Sunday 22 February 2026.
